Spent some time this weekend upgrading 2 laptops with Vista Operating systems to Windows 7. I know already that this is not a huge jump, but in the past upgrading was fraught with problems, but this time it was a breeze. It is claimed that Windows 7 runs faster, well I can testify to that, but there could be an explanation here, during the upgrade all the old rubbish created by the operating system disappeared, meaning it does run faster without any improvements to the code.

Two things you should do when upgrading are firstly download and run the Windows 7 upgrade advisor from the Microsoft website, and secondly check the versions as I discovered that Vista  Home Basics version can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate but not Professional, now that’s a strange one.

Watch this space to see how it goes with Windows 7.
