Had a friend conatct me today about my listing at ukbest50.co.uk. I had to check this for myself, the message I entered for ahb Solutions back in November 2006, that's 19 month to realise that it's too big, along with another few listings. The message that appears is
"Sorry Message removed Over .5K limit.
Causing Large responses time on page. Size=0.560546875K "
Hardly a huge amount over. This is a listing I dont often view, but I did recently and it would appear the listing has been quite high in the ratings for some time now, but it was there a couple of weeks ago. Checking the T&Cs there's no mention of a limit of size, so where did this come from?
When trying to correct this I dueley attempted to log into the Use Admin panel, and much to my annoyanace directed to an "add new site" as user id not recognised, so what did I use, no the user id was correct, maybe its the password. Send me the password, oops "error 500, internal server error".
Investigation about this site further is that it's not SEO friendly, the links back are not direct links back but redirects, no PR passed backto listed sites here. Also seen in the past is "service unavailable" message, with alarming regularity.
So what now, well this seems pretty poor quality directory anyway, and the additional "vote" links have now been removed and the listing comment altered. Advice to other webmasters and optimisers - don't bother with this directory.
